Baggage Information

You have a flight with Thai Airways, but are wondering about Thai Airways' Checked Baggage regulations. To ensure the safest and most comfortable flight, you need to comply with the following luggage weight levels, number of pieces of luggage, etc. Complying with the Airline's regulations helps passengers minimize unnecessary inconvenience and trouble during check-in procedures at the airport.

CHECKED BAGGAGE

Weight level is specified by Thai Airways for a journey

Applies to Thailand domestic flights:

Region 1 (TC1) includes the entire Western Hemisphere.

To/from the US and Canada, applies to the entire itinerary if passengers use Thai Airways flights. The airline has separate regulations for each class of seats regarding maximum weight and free conditions for passengers as follows:

Economy Allowed to bring 2 pieces of luggage for free. Each piece of luggage must not exceed 23kg (50lbs) and the total dimensions (length + width + height) must not exceed 158cm (62in).

HAND BAGGAGE

On each Thai Airways flight, 1 passenger is allowed to bring 1 carry-on bag with a maximum length of 56 cm (22 inches), width 45 cm (18 inches), thickness 25 cm (10 inches).

Hand baggage includes hand baggage item(s) and one accessory. For safety reason, the weight and dimension must follow:

Note:

-  These dimensions include wheels, handles, and side pockets. The total weight of your carry-on baggage must not exceed 7kg (15 lb).

- All liquids, aerosols, and glues in carry-on baggage must be contained in containers with a capacity not exceeding 100ml.

- Exceptions apply to medications, baby formula/food and passengers with special dietary requirements.

- Items purchased at duty-free shops at airports or on airplanes must be packaged in sealed plastic bags and must not be opened. Passengers may be asked to present proof of purchase.

- Addition to hand baggage item(s) and accessory, passenger may take some personal items on board without fee.

Important Notice:

If your hand baggage exceeds the quantity, weight and dimensions specified above, the baggage must be checked in.

OVERWEIGHT BAGGAGE AT THAI AIRWAYS

Thai Airways regulates the amount of luggage allowed on each flight. On the flight, in case passengers carry overweight or excess luggage, they need to follow Thai Airway's Overweight Baggage regulations.

Note:

-  All overweight baggage will be purchased directly at the airport.

- Overweight baggage will be charged 1 kg / USD / segment / passenger.

Wheelchair, mobility aids with removable battery

Battery (ies) that can be removed from the wheelchair, mobility aid (collapsible device).

The battery (ies) must be removed. The wheelchair/mobility aid may then be checked-in without restriction

The battery (ise) must be protected from short circuit by insulating the terminals

The removed battery (ies) must be protected from damage by placing them individually in a protective pouch, and carried as cabin baggage

The power rating of the battery must not exceed 300Wh, or for devices fitted with two batteries, each battery must not exceed 160Wh.

Passengers are allowed to take one spare battery not exceeding 300Wh, or two spare batteries not exceeding 160Wh each. They must be carried as cabin baggage

Smart Baggage

Smart baggage or baggage are powered with a lithium batteries, except for lithium button cells.

Battery can be removed:

If the baggage is to be checked in, the lithium battery must be removed from the baggage and the lithium battery must be carried in the cabin; or

The baggage must be carried in the cabin.

Refer to “Portable electronic devices” above for more detail about lithium battery restrictions.

Battery cannot be removed: Baggage where the lithium battery is designed to charge other devices and cannot be removed is forbidden for carriage.

Electronic Cigarettes

Electronic cigarettes including e-cigars and other personal vaporizers are only allowed in carry-on baggage. However, the use of e-cigarettes and/or recharging of these devices, batteries in the cabin is prohibited at all time. Batteries must be individually protected to prevent short circuits by placement in the original retail packaging or by otherwise insulating terminals, e.g. by taping over exposed terminals or placing each battery in a separate plastic bag or protective pouch and carried in carry-on baggage only.

In addition, lithium batteries contained in e-cigarettes are subject to lithium battery restrictions.

DELAYED, DAMAGED AND LOST BAGGAGE

We aim to deliver the baggage to right destinations. However, sometimes baggage may be damaged, delayed or do not reach the destinations due to inclement weather or facility requirements.Thai Airways will do our utmost to resolve the problems.

Baggage Claim

Upon arrival at the airport, passengers recognize that your baggage has been delayed, missing, lost or damaged, please contact staff of Thai Airways at the airport and must submit a claim report.

Baggage Tracing

We will initiate the tracing of your baggage through our worldwide computerized tracking system and will keep passengers informed of the status of your baggage.

Baggage Delivery

We will notify passengers as soon as your baggage is located and will be delivered to the specified address, subject to local customs regulations. Alternatively, passengers may collect your baggage at the airport and we shall be glad to reimburse the transport cost.

FORGOTTEN OR MISTAKENLY TAKEN BAGGGAGE

Forgotten Articles

Lost property that is discovered within the cabin will be kept at the airport of arrival. Depending upon what it is, unclaimed property found in the cabin will be held by either the Thai Airways baggage office or local airport authorities.

If passengers have found personal items that have been left behind in the aircraft cabin, please contact us immediately.

Checked baggage

Passengers should personally pick up your own checked baggage at the airport baggage conveyor belt upon arrival. In the event that passengers have forgotten to retrieve your baggage, please contact us immediately.

If your baggage is not picked up, Vietnam Airlines will store it for 90 days and assess applicable storage charges. If a passenger fails to claim baggage within 90 days, its disposal is subject to Thai Airways' discretion.

Return of Baggage

If your lost article is found, it will be immediately delivered to the place of your choosing. Passengers will be responsible for any shipping fees.

Items discovered in airport facilities other than the cabin may be kept at the airport building in question, or at a police station. Please inquire using the relevant contact details.
